Owned and operated by Matt, Chew Valley Carpentry provides high-quality carpentry services for both residential and commercial properties in and around the Chew Valley. From flooring and doors to roofing and kitchen fitting, we can handle all of your carpentry needs.

We understand that working in people's houses or on their projects means that we are trusted to deliver quality work.

With a background as a qualified cabinet maker and with years spent in general carpentry, we are able to offer full first and second fix carpentry. First fix carpentry includes roofing, structural walls, windows, studwork, exterior doors, internal door linings and floors;  second fix includes internal doors, skirting boards, kitchen fitting, architrave, built in wardrobes and custom cupboards, stairs, boxing for bathrooms and laying wooden flooring. We also offer external work including decking, balconies, soffits and fascia work.

 I am a qualified cabinet maker and have 25 years experience in generalist carpentry from swinging doors to full first and second fix carpentry. I take a huge amount of pride in my work, ensuring that my work is to the highest standard.

I grew up in Butcombe in the Chew Valley, and qualified as a cabinet maker while working at Oxleaze Workshop Cabinet Makers and then spent 5 years at R.O Dando & Sons as a general carpenter swinging doors, fitting architrave and skirting board, building custom wardrobes, fitting kitchens, flooring, roofing and much more. For the last 10 years I have run a successful first and second fix carpentry business in central Bristol working on commercial and residential new builds and renovations. 

In 2023, I moved back to the Chew Valley and am now living in Blagdon with my family.
